Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has given fans some positive news about winger Oswin Appollis after the player joined the squad for training.
Ouaddou said he was pleased to see Appollis back on the training ground. The coach explained that the main aim of the session was simply to check what the player could do. They watched him closely during the warm-up, especially to see whether he could still sprint properly. According to Ouaddou, the signs were good. Appollis told the coaching staff that he felt no pain while moving.
“I’m happy that he was in training, the target was to see what he can do, in the warm-up to see if he can sprint, it’s good news, he said he doesn’t feel pain,” Ouaddou said.
Even with the encouraging feedback, the coach was clear that Appollis will not be hurried back into the team. Pirates want to make sure the winger is properly ready before they ask him to play competitive matches again. Rushing him too soon could risk another setback, so the club is taking a careful approach.
Appollis has been working his way back after picking up an injury. Being able to train and sprint without discomfort is an important step. It shows he is moving in the right direction, but there is still work to be done before he can be considered for selection.
For Orlando Pirates, having Appollis available again would add pace and quality on the wing. The side has missed his ability to stretch defences and create chances. Supporters will be watching closely to see how quickly he can build up his match fitness.
Ouaddou and the technical team will continue to monitor the player over the coming days. Further training sessions will give them a better idea of where Appollis stands. Only when they are fully satisfied with his condition will they consider bringing him back into the matchday squad.
The update offers a bit of optimism for the Bucs as they prepare for their next fixtures. While no return date has been given, the fact that Appollis trained without pain is a welcome development for both the player and the club. Everyone involved will hope the progress continues without any further problems.
