Kaizer Chiefs Prepare Final Push for AmaZulu Striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya Ahead of January Transfer Window
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly preparing to make a final attempt to sign AmaZulu FC striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya ahead of the January 2027 transfer window, with the Zimbabwean international allegedly keen to join the Soweto giants.
The Glamour Boys are believed to be exploring attacking reinforcements as they look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season. Ngwenya has reportedly emerged as a potential target, with his alleged preference for a move to Naturena offering encouragement to the Chiefs management.
However, securing his signature could prove difficult because AmaZulu are reportedly reluctant to negotiate with Chiefs or other clubs interested in acquiring the forward's services.
Reports suggest that Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are also among the clubs facing potential difficulties in their pursuit of the striker. AmaZulu's reported unwillingness to entertain offers from these South African football giants could complicate negotiations as the January transfer window approaches.
Ngwenya's alleged desire to join Chiefs could give the Soweto club an advantage if AmaZulu eventually agree to discuss his future. Nevertheless, the striker's personal preference may not be enough to force a move, particularly if his current club remains determined to retain him.
For Chiefs, signing the Zimbabwean forward could provide an important opportunity to improve their attacking options and increase competition within the squad. The club will need to assess whether a formal approach could persuade AmaZulu to reconsider their reported position.
Several factors, including Ngwenya's contractual situation, AmaZulu's valuation and the willingness of both clubs to negotiate, could ultimately determine the outcome.
Neither Kaizer Chiefs nor AmaZulu has officially confirmed the reported transfer developments, and Ngwenya has not publicly verified his alleged preference for Naturena.
Chiefs supporters will now be watching closely to see whether their club can make progress before January 2027. Until negotiations are confirmed, however, Ngwenya's potential move remains speculative, and the striker could remain at AmaZulu beyond the upcoming transfer window.
