Kylian Mbappe delivered an outstanding performance as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25, 2026, ending their rivals’ unbeaten run in LaLiga. The French striker scored both goals to secure a crucial victory for Madrid and strengthen their position in the Spanish title race.
The result marked Barcelona’s first league defeat of the season after winning their opening nine matches. Real Madrid, meanwhile, reduced the gap between the two sides in the standings to three points.
Madrid opened the scoring in the 41st minute after capitalising on a defensive error. The visitors launched an attack down the left flank, with Yan Diomande delivering a cross into Barcelona’s penalty area. Gerard Martin failed to clear the ball properly, allowing it to strike Mbappe and bounce into the net.
Barcelona searched for an equaliser before the break, but Lamine Yamal missed an opportunity to get his side back into the contest. Madrid defended their advantage and went into half-time with a narrow lead.
The home team returned for the second half with greater determination and eventually levelled the score in the 61st minute. Raphinha completed a well-coordinated attacking move after receiving a clever pass from Pedri, giving Barcelona renewed hope of turning the game around.
However, Real Madrid continued to pose a threat going forward and eventually found the decisive goal late in the match. In the 88th minute, Eduardo Camavinga advanced during a quick attacking move before sending the ball across Barcelona’s penalty area. Mbappe was well-positioned to finish into an unguarded net, restoring Madrid’s lead and securing all three points.
The brace took Mbappe’s LaLiga tally to 11 goals in 10 appearances. The French forward also reached 100 goals for Real Madrid, further demonstrating his growing influence since joining the Spanish giants.
Despite the defeat, Barcelona remained at the top of the LaLiga standings with 27 points. Real Madrid moved to 24 points, leaving the two rivals separated by just three points.
Although Mbappe was the standout performer, Real Madrid’s overall display also contributed significantly to the result. Their defensive organisation, attacking efficiency and ability to exploit Barcelona’s mistakes proved decisive in a closely contested El Clasico.
The victory gives Madrid an important advantage in the early stages of the title race, while Barcelona will look to recover quickly after suffering their first league setback of the campaign.
