Chiefs Are Finished: Red Arrows Coach Makes Arrogant Statement Ahead of Durban Battle

Kaizer Chiefs Face Huge Test as Red Arrows Coach Makes Bold 8/10 Prediction Ahead of Durban Showdown

Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a major challenge ahead of their crucial CAF Confederation Cup return leg after Red Arrows head coach Chisi Mbewe confidently predicted that his team would qualify for the group stages of the competition.

The Zambian tactician believes his side have an excellent chance of eliminating the South African giants after securing a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg of their second preliminary-round encounter at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday.

Speaking after the match, Mbewe expressed confidence in his team's ability to finish the job when the two sides meet again at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday, 23 October.

Asked to rate Red Arrows' chances of progressing on a scale of one to ten, the coach confidently responded with an eight.

"I can assure you that this time around, Red Arrows is qualifying for the group stage. On a scale of one to ten? I would say eight out of ten," Mbewe declared, as reported by KickOff.

His comments have added another layer of intrigue to an already important encounter, with Chiefs now facing the pressure of responding on home soil.

Red Arrows Have the Advantage

Red Arrows claimed a valuable first-leg victory courtesy of captain Alassane Diarra, who found the back of the net in the 77th minute after connecting with a corner delivered by Ackim Mumba.

The Zambian side created several opportunities throughout the match but failed to convert enough chances to secure a more comfortable advantage.

Mbewe admitted that his original target was to score three goals, suggesting that his team could have put the tie beyond Chiefs' reach before travelling to South Africa.

Nevertheless, the coach remains optimistic that his players can deliver another disciplined performance in Durban.

Chiefs Must Respond Under Pressure

For Kaizer Chiefs, the situation is straightforward: they must overturn the deficit if they want to continue their continental campaign.

Head coach Fernando Da Cruz will need his players to demonstrate greater attacking efficiency and composure in the final third.

The Glamour Boys must also remain defensively organised, particularly against a Red Arrows side that showed its ability to exploit opportunities during the first encounter.

A 1-0 victory for Chiefs would level the aggregate score and take the tie to a penalty shootout, while a win by at least two goals would secure qualification without penalties.

Can Amakhosi Silence Mbewe?

Friday's showdown represents more than just another continental fixture for Chiefs. It is an opportunity to protect their reputation, satisfy their supporters and prove that they remain capable of competing on the African stage.

Mbewe has made his position clear, but football is ultimately decided on the pitch rather than through predictions.

With qualification at stake, all eyes will be on Durban to see whether Chiefs can overturn the deficit or whether Red Arrows will fulfil their coach's confident prediction.

Can Kaizer Chiefs make Chisi Mbewe regret his bold statement, or will the Zambian side complete the job and book their place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages?

The article is based on reports available as of 20 October 2026. The return leg is scheduled for Friday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
