Top European Coach Drops Massive Midnight Statement To Chiefs & Pirates

Belgian football coach Luc Eymael has revealed his ambition to coach in the famous Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, saying he has never lost a derby match.

Eymael, who has gained coaching experience in different football environments, remains hopeful that he will eventually get the opportunity to manage a team in one of South African football's biggest fixtures.

The Soweto Derby is among the most popular football rivalries in Africa, attracting thousands of supporters to stadiums and millions of viewers whenever Chiefs and Pirates meet. The fixture is known for its intense atmosphere, historical significance and the enormous pressure placed on players and coaches.

Speaking about his ambitions, Eymael expressed confidence in his record in derby matches, making it clear that he would welcome the opportunity to test himself in South Africa's most celebrated football rivalry.

His statement, "I've never lost a derby," reflects his confidence and adds to his desire to experience the occasion from the technical area.

For coaches in the Betway Premiership, managing a Soweto Derby is a major responsibility. Beyond securing three points, the match carries significant emotional and historical importance for both clubs and their supporters.

Coaches must prepare their players to handle the pressure, maintain tactical discipline and avoid costly mistakes. A positive result can strengthen a coach's reputation, while a defeat can lead to criticism from supporters and football analysts.

Eymael's interest in the fixture also highlights the appeal of South African football to international coaches. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are two of the country's most recognisable clubs, and the opportunity to lead either side in the derby would represent a significant milestone for any coach.

However, Eymael has yet to secure an appointment that would allow him to fulfil this ambition. His chances of coaching in the fixture would depend on receiving an opportunity to manage either Chiefs or Pirates.

His comments are likely to generate discussion among football supporters, particularly given his confident claim about his unbeaten record in derby matches.

For now, coaching in the Soweto Derby remains an ambition rather than a confirmed possibility. Nevertheless, Eymael appears determined to keep the dream alive as he looks towards the next stage of his coaching career.

Whether he will eventually get the chance to lead one of the Soweto giants remains uncertain, but his desire to experience the rivalry has been made clear.
