Abou Lopez is on the verge of taking a major step in his career as he prepares to join Ankara-based Gençlerbirliği SK. According to Africafoot, the young goalkeeper has travelled to Turkey to complete the final stages of his move from the Kadji Sports Academy in Douala. The transfer could open the door to his first experience of European professional football.
Abou Lopez first caught Gençlerbirliği’s attention during a trial last September. The Cameroonian impressed the coaching staff with his physical presence and quick reflexes, prompting the club to pursue his signing after he returned home. Following further discussions with his representatives, the Turkish side invited him back to Ankara to finalise the deal.
Abou Lopez began his development at the Tafi Foundation before continuing his training at the Kadji Sports Academy, one of Cameroon’s recognised football development centres. At just 18, he now faces the challenge of adapting to Turkish football, competing for opportunities and gaining valuable experience. His immediate task will be to turn the promise he has shown into progress on the professional stage.
