Medeama face Samartex test as Premier League leaders defend unbeaten start

The Premier League’s Matchday 7 programme continues on Sunday, 18 October 2026, with seven fixtures, including a Western derby between unbeaten leaders Medeama SC and FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Medeama have collected 14 points from six matches and will be looking to extend their unbeaten beginning to the season. Asante Kotoko SC, Aduana FC and Port City FC, meanwhile, will all try to recover from defeats last weekend.

Samartex host leaders Medeama

Medeama travel to Samreboi for one of their most demanding matches so far. They have won four of their past five games and drawn the other, scoring a league-high 12 goals while conceding five.

FC Samartex 1996 are third on 11 points, but suffered their first defeat of the campaign last time out when newly promoted FC Ashanti Gold ’04 won 1-0.

The Timber Giants remain unbeaten at home, with two victories and a draw from three matches. They also have a strong recent record against Medeama at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, winning two and drawing two of their last four league meetings there.

Last season’s two Premier League encounters were both drawn. The match in Tarkwa ended 1-1, while the return fixture in Samreboi finished 0-0. With only three points between the teams, Sunday’s result could have an early impact on the title race.

Kotoko aim to recover

Asante Kotoko SC return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium seeking a response to their 1-0 defeat by Swedru All Blacks.

The Porcupine Warriors are 12th with eight points, although both of their league wins this season have come at home in Kumasi. They will hope that record can help revive their campaign.

Young Apostles arrive after ending a three-match losing run with a 1-0 win against Aduana FC. The Wenchi-based club remain 16th with six points and will face a difficult test against a Kotoko side determined to return to winning form.

Aduana and Port City look to bounce back

Aduana FC host FC Ashanti Gold ’04 at Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa after losing 1-0 to Young Apostles.

The Fire Club are sixth with 10 points and have won two of their three home matches in Dormaa. Their opponents also have 10 points, sitting fifth after their victory over Samartex, and will arrive in Dormaa Ahenkro hoping to improve their away record.

At Nana Boamah Darko II Park in Kukurantumi, Port City FC welcome winless Dreams FC.

Port City, promoted this season, lost 1-0 to Hearts of Oak last weekend but remain fourth with 10 points. They have not been beaten at home after three matches.

Dreams FC are bottom with two points from two draws and four defeats. The Still Believe lads have also lost all three away fixtures, leaving them in urgent need of a result. Port City will see the match as a chance to strengthen their position.

Swedru All Blacks host Karela

Swedru All Blacks will try to follow up their 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko when Karela United FC visit Swedru Stadium.

The Black Magicians are 10th with eight points and have two wins and a draw from three home games. Karela are eighth on nine points but have lost every away match this season.

The visitors are also without an away league victory in their past eight matches, making the trip an opportunity to reverse that run.

Holy Stars face Bechem United

Basake Holy Stars FC entertain Bechem United FC at AAK II Sports Arena in Anyinase, hoping to recover from a 2-0 defeat by Gold Stars SC.

Holy Stars are ninth with nine points and have won all three of their league matches at home, each by a 1-0 scoreline. Bechem United, seventh with 10 points, recorded an impressive 4-2 victory over Vision FC in their previous game.

The Hunters are yet to win away this season, while Holy Stars have won both of their previous home league meetings with Bechem United.

Debibi United seek to end losing run

Debibi United FC host Gold Stars SC at Debibi Presby Park hoping to stop a run of three successive defeats and move out of the relegation zone.

The newcomers are 17th with four points after losing 3-0 to Berekum Chelsea last weekend. Their home record includes one win, one draw and one defeat from three matches.

Gold Stars are 14th with seven points and travel after a 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars ended a two-game winless spell. The Miners have performed more consistently away from home, recording one win, one draw and one defeat.
