Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies maintained their winning start to the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies.
A late goal from Beline Nyarko secured all three points for Charles Anokye Frimpong’s side, who have now recorded two wins from their opening two matches in the competition.
Both teams went into the encounter buoyed by victories in their opening fixtures, with Ampem Darkoa beating USFAS Bamako and Kawempe Muslim Ladies overcoming Moroccan giants AS FAR.
The Ghanaian side made a bright start and created several opportunities before taking the lead in the 19th minute.
Kawempe’s goalkeeper made a costly mistake while attempting to clear the ball, allowing Nancy Amoh to capitalise and put Ampem Darkoa ahead.
Amoh, however, missed an opportunity to double her side’s advantage moments later, as poor decision-making in the final third denied the Black Queens midfielder a second goal.
Kawempe responded in the 33rd minute, benefiting from a communication breakdown between goalkeeper Rose Teye Baah and her defender to restore parity.
The Ugandan side enjoyed greater possession after the break and attempted to take control of proceedings, but struggled to turn their dominance into clear-cut scoring opportunities.
Ampem Darkoa remained patient and found the breakthrough seven minutes from time.
Nyarko took advantage of another defensive error to score the decisive goal in the 83rd minute and hand the Ghanaian champions a valuable victory.
The result leaves Ampem Darkoa in a strong position to progress to the knockout stages, having collected six points from their first two matches.
