Hasaacas Ladies defender Blessing Shine says her side corrected their previous mistakes against Ampem Darkoa Ladies to claim the 2026/27 Champion of Champions title with a 1-0 victory.
The Doo Ladies secured revenge against their rivals at the Otumfuo Astro Turf in Dichemso, Kumasi, after losing the Women's Premier League title to Ampem Darkoa earlier this year following a 2-1 defeat in the final.
Milot Pokuaa scored the decisive goal in the 61st minute, rewarding Hasaacas for a determined performance in the curtain-raiser ahead of the new Women's Premier League season.
Shine said the team's familiarity with Ampem Darkoa and their review of previous encounters helped them prepare for the contest.
“You know, one thing about Hasaacas and Ampem Darkoa is that we cannot beat each other continuously. If one team wins today, the other team will win the next time. So, it has been like that for a while now,” she said.
“With Ampem Darkoa, they are our rivals, and we know how to play against each other.”
She added that the team worked on their shortcomings from their previous meeting.
“So, we thought about what we did wrong the last time, and we practised and rehearsed to correct our mistakes. I think that was reflected well today. That's why we were able to win.”
Ampem Darkoa threatened early through Tracey Twum but failed to convert in the fourth minute. Pokuaa eventually broke the deadlock after coming close several times.
Hasaacas held on to secure the trophy, with the 2026/27 Women's Premier League scheduled to begin on the weekend of October 23.
