According to a report by Football London on Monday, October 19, 2026, Manchester City have suffered a major injury setback after Antoine Semenyo was ruled out for around eight weeks with a knee problem, leaving him set to miss several important matches, including the Premier League clash against Arsenal.
The winger had made an impressive start to the 2026/27 season, recording five goals and assists across his first six starts. However, his strong form has been interrupted by an injury he sustained during City’s recent match against Ipswich Town.
Semenyo reportedly picked up the problem after coming on as a substitute, raising concerns about his fitness. Although initial fears suggested the injury could be serious, further medical examinations provided a clearer picture of his recovery period.
Speaking after the scan, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said the club had initially feared a worse injury but expected the winger to return in December. He added that Semenyo’s comeback would feel like having a new player available to the team.
The Ghanaian international is expected to miss City’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal on November 29. His absence could be a significant blow as the club prepares for an important period in the title race.
Semenyo is also likely to miss league fixtures against Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Leeds United, Brentford and Chelsea, depending on his recovery.
In addition, the winger could be unavailable for the League Cup encounter against Brighton and several Champions League matches against AEK Athens, RB Leipzig, Napoli and Barcelona.
His absence will reduce City’s attacking options at a crucial stage of the campaign, particularly after his impressive performances at the beginning of the season.
Maresca will hope Semenyo makes a full recovery and returns in December as expected. However, his exact comeback date will depend on his progress during rehabilitation.
