Manchester United Face Fierce Competition to Sign £15m Star in January

Manchester United are reportedly considering another attempt to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page after failing to complete a deal for the highly rated teenager during the previous summer transfer window. The Red Devils remain interested in bringing the 18-year-old to Old Trafford, but their chances of securing his signature could be complicated by growing competition from several major clubs across Europe.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Page has attracted significant attention because of his impressive performances and development at Leicester City. His progress has reportedly placed him among the young talents attracting interest from clubs looking to strengthen their squads with promising players who could become important figures in the future.

Manchester United had previously come close to reaching an agreement for the midfielder but were unable to finalise the proposed transfer. Despite that setback, the Premier League giants have continued monitoring his situation and are understood to be prepared to return to the negotiating table when the January transfer window opens.

Leicester, however, are reportedly willing to consider offers for their young midfielder only if interested clubs agree to specific conditions. The Championship side wants any club that completes his transfer to allow him to remain at the King Power Stadium on loan until the end of the current season. This arrangement would give Leicester the opportunity to continue benefiting from his services while ensuring that his development is not interrupted by an immediate change of environment.

The Foxes are also demanding a transfer package believed to be worth approximately £15 million. Although that figure represents their reported valuation of the player, the payment structure could involve instalments spread across future periods rather than requiring the entire amount to be paid immediately.

Page's contractual situation also gives Leicester considerable negotiating strength. The teenager remains under contract with the club until 2029, meaning they are not under immediate pressure to sell him. With several teams monitoring his progress, Leicester could use the growing competition to secure favourable terms if they eventually decide to approve his departure.

Manchester United are facing competition from familiar Premier League rivals, with Manchester City reportedly joining the race for the midfielder. Arsenal and Chelsea have also been monitoring his development, indicating that interest in the youngster extends beyond the two Manchester clubs.

Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford have equally made enquiries about his availability. The number of English clubs linked with the player suggests that his performances at Leicester have attracted widespread attention, with several teams potentially viewing him as a valuable addition to their long-term projects.

Interest in Page is not limited to England, as Borussia Dortmund are also understood to admire the midfielder. The German club has previously identified him as a possible transfer target, demonstrating that his development has been followed by clubs outside the Premier League.

TEAMtalk further reports that Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have also monitored the Leicester youngster. Their reported involvement could make the transfer considerably more competitive, particularly if either club decides to turn its interest into a formal approach.

For Manchester United, the situation presents another opportunity to strengthen their recruitment of young players, but it also carries the risk of repeating the disappointment of their previous attempt. The club must now consider whether it is prepared to satisfy Leicester's financial expectations and accept the proposed loan arrangement.

Although Leicester's willingness to entertain offers could provide United with an opening, completing the deal will depend on reaching an agreement that satisfies all parties. The growing interest from England and Europe means the Red Devils may need to act decisively if they want to secure Page's services.

The January transfer window could therefore become an important period in determining the teenager's future, with Manchester United hoping to overcome their previous setback and beat their rivals to his signature.
