Arsenal Receive Major Premier League Title Boost as Man City Suffer 3-1 Defeat at Nottingham Forest

According to a report by Evening Standard on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Manchester City suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, giving Arsenal a major boost in the Premier League title race.

Liam Delap was the hero for Nottingham Forest, scoring twice to inspire his side to an impressive victory over Pep Guardiola's team.

The defeat marked City's third consecutive loss in the Premier League, increasing concerns about their performances as the campaign progresses.

Nottingham Forest made a bright start and took the lead in the sixth minute through Jair Cunha.

The defender capitalised on an error by Josko Gvardiol, winning possession in an advanced area before breaking into the penalty box and calmly beating Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Forest continued to trouble the visitors and extended their lead in the 19th minute through Delap. The former Chelsea striker took advantage of a defensive misunderstanding involving Elliot Anderson and Iliman Ndiaye before driving forward and firing a powerful shot past Donnarumma.

Manchester City struggled to contain Forest during the opening half but still created opportunities to get back into the game.

Enzo Fernandez missed a good chance after heading Marc Guehi's cross wide, while Erling Haaland was denied by an excellent goal-line clearance from Jair after rounding goalkeeper Matz Sels.

City eventually reduced the deficit seven minutes into the second half through Rayan Cherki.

The French midfielder collected the ball after Jeremy Doku's cross took a deflection and produced an impressive half-volley from the edge of the penalty area to make it 2-1.

The visitors increased their attacking pressure in search of an equaliser, with Haaland coming close when his curling effort from inside the box sailed narrowly over the crossbar.

However, Forest remained dangerous on the counterattack and restored their two-goal advantage in the 73rd minute.

Delap started a brilliant counterattacking move by releasing Morgan Gibbs-White, who returned the ball to the striker inside the penalty area. Delap then unleashed a powerful effort that struck the post before crossing the goal line.

His second goal completed his brace and sealed a memorable 3-1 victory for Forest, bringing an end to their five-match winless run.

The result leaves Manchester City facing another setback after losing three consecutive Premier League matches, while Arsenal have strengthened their position at the top of the table.

Mikel Arteta's side had earlier beaten Hull City 1-0 through Martin Odegaard's second-half goal, moving six points ahead of City with 27 points from 10 matches.
