According to a report by Football London on Saturday October 31, 2026, after Chelsea's 2-0 Premier League win over Manchester United, former striker Daniel Sturridge spoke highly of two young players: Estevao Willian and Josh Acheampong.
Morgan Rogers scored first, Romeo Lavia dominated in the middle of the field, and goalkeeper Mike Penders made a spectacular save to keep the scoreless draw for Chelsea. But two children were the center of Sturridge's attention.
After fighting for regular playing time under Xabi Alonso, Estevao was given a chance to start against United. The youthful Brazilian was a continual threat to the opposing defense thanks to his dribbling, attacking movement, and knack for setting up dangerous situations.
His tremendous potential and attacking quality were on full display, despite the two offside decisions that saved his best efforts.
He thinks the Brazilian could become an even more dangerous player if given more opportunities, which Sturridge lauded.
An ovation for Estevao. Sturridge noted that there was another day when he scored a hat trick and received all the praise. If you give him a chance to gain speed, he'll take off. Exceptional skill.
Acheampong, meanwhile, has been a key cog for Alonso's team all season. Nine of Chelsea's twelve matches in all competitions have featured the 20-year-old defender, including all four of their most recent Premier League matches.
As he did against Manchester United before, he showed great defensive awareness, self-assurance in one-on-one situations, and an outstanding capacity to advance the ball. Even though he has room to grow in his game knowledge, his recent performances bode well for his future.
Equally enthused, Sturridge predicted that the young defender could one day play at the greatest level of football.
Even though he's only 20 years old, Josh Acheampong is already a beast. His potential is great. This is why I love his game," the ex-England player wrote.
Two promising young players, Estevao and Acheampong, are giving Chelsea reason to be excited about their futures with the club.
