According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal secured an important 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield after delivering a disciplined performance in their Premier League encounter. Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal to earn the Gunners all three points.
The visitors made an impressive start and found the breakthrough in the 16th minute. Declan Rice provided an excellent pass into the penalty area, allowing Havertz to finish from close range and put Arsenal ahead. The goal gave Mikel Arteta's side an early advantage and set the stage for a determined defensive display.
Both teams showed attacking ambition during the opening stages. Noni Madueke attempted to create opportunities for Arsenal, while Liverpool threatened through Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola. However, goalkeeper David Raya remained alert and dealt effectively with the hosts' attacking moves.
Liverpool gradually increased their pressure after falling behind, with Cody Gakpo and Isak attempting to trouble Arsenal's defence. The hosts came particularly close to equalising in the 39th minute when Florian Wirtz's free-kick struck the crossbar, allowing Arsenal to maintain their advantage.
There was also controversy in the first half when Liverpool appealed for a penalty after Gakpo went down inside the Arsenal penalty area in the 29th minute. However, following a VAR review, the referee decided against awarding a spot-kick.
After the restart, Liverpool controlled much of the possession and intensified their search for an equaliser. Isak missed a promising opportunity in the 56th minute, while another attempt from Wirtz was successfully blocked by Arsenal's defence.
Arteta responded by making several substitutions as he attempted to preserve his team's advantage. Arsenal also threatened going forward, with Christos Tzolis testing Alisson in the 73rd minute and forcing the Liverpool goalkeeper into an important save.
Liverpool continued applying pressure as the match approached its conclusion, hoping to rescue a point. However, Arsenal maintained their defensive organisation and refused to surrender their advantage.
Despite six minutes of added time, Liverpool could not find a way past the visitors. Arsenal protected their narrow lead until the final whistle, completing a valuable away victory that demonstrated their defensive resilience and ability to secure important results in challenging Premier League fixtures.
