According to a post by Fabrizio Romano on X on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Xabi Alonso has expressed his satisfaction with Estevão's performance, describing the Brazilian youngster's display as the response he needed to demonstrate that he deserves more opportunities.

The manager praised the Chelsea forward's commitment and hard work, suggesting that his latest contribution had strengthened his case for greater involvement in the team.

“I am very happy with Estevão! This was the best response to show that he deserves more. He worked so hard, I’m happy,” Alonso said.

Alonso's comments highlight the importance of the young Brazilian's effort in convincing the coaching staff that he is ready for increased responsibility. Rather than focusing only on his technical ability, the manager specifically recognised the work Estevão had put into earning his opportunities.

The teenager has attracted considerable attention since arriving in European football, with his attacking qualities and creativity making him one of Brazil's highly regarded young talents.

However, establishing himself at a major club requires more than potential. Players must consistently demonstrate their readiness through performances, training commitment and the ability to meet the demands of the team's playing system.

Alonso's assessment suggests that Estevão has made a positive impression through his recent efforts.

His statement that the youngster deserves more opportunities indicates that the manager is pleased with the progress he has shown.

For a young player competing for minutes in a demanding squad, earning the confidence of the manager can be an important step towards securing a more regular role.

Alonso's public praise therefore provides encouragement for Estevão as he continues his development.

The Chelsea manager did not specify how many additional minutes or starts the Brazilian could receive.

Nevertheless, his remarks made clear that he appreciated the youngster's response and the hard work behind it.

Estevão will now look to build on that positive assessment and maintain the level of commitment that has earned him recognition from Alonso.
