According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Morgan Rogers produced an outstanding performance to help Chelsea secure a 2-0 victory over Manchester United, earning the Man of the Match award after playing a decisive role in the Premier League encounter.
The midfielder was one of Chelsea’s most influential players throughout the match, contributing significantly to the team’s attacking performance and scoring the opening goal that gave the Blues control of the contest.
Both teams struggled to find the back of the net during the first half, with Manchester United and Chelsea heading into the break without scoring. However, Chelsea returned for the second half with greater attacking intensity, and Rogers provided the breakthrough in the 50th minute.
The midfielder produced a moment of individual brilliance as he drove into Manchester United’s penalty area, demonstrated excellent composure and lifted the ball over goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a clever finish to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
His goal proved important in changing the direction of the encounter, giving the home side greater confidence as they continued searching for another goal.
Rogers also demonstrated his attacking quality through his movement and dribbling ability, repeatedly troubling Manchester United’s defensive players whenever he advanced towards their penalty area.
Chelsea maintained their attacking pressure after taking the lead, and their advantage increased in the 63rd minute following a major setback for Manchester United.
United defender Lisandro Martinez received his second yellow card and was sent off after committing a foul inside the penalty area. Following a VAR review, the referee awarded Chelsea a penalty, leaving the visitors with the additional challenge of continuing the match with ten players.
Cole Palmer stepped forward to take responsibility for the spot kick and successfully converted in the 64th minute. Although Lammens managed to get a hand to the effort, he could not prevent the ball from entering the net, extending Chelsea’s advantage to 2-0.
The second goal placed Chelsea in a comfortable position and made Manchester United’s chances of recovering from the setback considerably more difficult.
Chelsea also thought they had extended their lead through Brazilian youngster Estêvão, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review. Despite the decision, the Blues maintained their two-goal advantage against the ten-man visitors.
Rogers’ contribution remained one of the biggest highlights of the encounter. His ability to create attacking opportunities, take on defenders and produce an important finish helped Chelsea establish control at a crucial stage of the match.
His opening goal was particularly significant because it came after a difficult first half in which neither side managed to break the deadlock.
The midfielder’s impressive display ultimately earned him the Man of the Match award as Chelsea secured an important 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
