Lamine Yamal starred for Barcelona with a superb goal and an assist as the Catalan giants took control of an entertaining La Liga clash against Real Betis, establishing a 5-2 advantage.

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Spanish international played a key role in Barcelona’s attacking performance, using his dribbling ability and creativity to trouble the Betis defence throughout the encounter.

Barcelona made an immediate impact, taking the lead in the 10th minute through Yamal. The winger collected possession, worked his way past opposing players and unleashed a powerful effort from outside the penalty area into the top-left corner, leaving goalkeeper Alvaro Valles unable to prevent the opener.

His goal set the tone for Barcelona’s attacking display, although Betis responded strongly and restored parity in the 27th minute. Valentin Gomez rose above the defence to connect with a cross and send a header into the net.

The visitors regained their advantage four minutes before half-time when Rodri headed home from Fermin Lopez’s corner. However, Betis refused to back down, with Giovani Lo Celso producing an excellent finish into the top-right corner two minutes before the interval to make it 2-2.

Barcelona returned from the break determined to regain control and moved ahead again in the 51st minute through Gabriel Jesus. Another effort was subsequently ruled out for offside, while Betis continued to threaten and pulled a goal back through Abde Ezzalzouli in the 53rd minute to make the score 3-2.

The Catalan side eventually created breathing space in the 62nd minute when Eric Garcia headed home from Pau Cubarsi’s delivery, extending their advantage and putting further pressure on the hosts.

Dani Olmo then added Barcelona’s fifth goal in the 81st minute after combining with a teammate before firing into the net from outside the penalty area.

Throughout the match, Yamal remained a constant threat, combining his individual skill with intelligent movement and incisive passing. His early strike and creative contribution helped Barcelona maintain their attacking momentum in a contest that featured several changes in momentum.

The performance further underlined the teenager’s importance to Barcelona’s attacking plans as the club continues its La Liga campaign. With Yamal influencing the game and his teammates contributing goals, Barcelona demonstrated their ability to produce an effective attacking display against a competitive Betis side.
