MANCHESTER CITY VS BRIGHTON
According to a report by BBC SPORT on Saturday October 31, 2026, Brighton claimed an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, handing Enzo Maresca's side a disappointing defeat after Yasin Ayari's first-half goal proved decisive.
The visitors made a bright start and took the lead in the 11th minute. Maxim De Cuyper created the opportunity by choosing to pass to Ayari, who calmly fired into the bottom-right corner to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Manchester City responded by pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Iliman Ndiaye missed an opportunity with a header before going one-on-one with Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, who produced an important save to preserve his team's advantage.
Brighton also threatened through Diego Gomez, but Donnarumma was equal to his effort. City continued to create chances, with Erling Haaland seeing his attempt blocked inside the penalty area.
After the restart, City increased their attacking pressure. Ndiaye came close to scoring again, but Verbruggen produced an excellent save to divert his effort onto the post.
Matheus Nunes and Haaland also had attempts denied as Brighton defended resolutely. Nico O'Reilly missed a late opportunity with a header, while Abdukodir Khusanov was also denied by Verbruggen.
Despite City's late efforts, Brighton held on to secure all three points, leaving the hosts frustrated after failing to find an equaliser.
ASTON VILLA VS FULHAM
Aston Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Villa Park on Saturday after Zion Suzuki's own goal cancelled out Nicolas Jackson's first-half opener.
Villa had an opportunity to take the lead in the 14th minute after a VAR review awarded them a penalty for handball. However, John McGinn struck the crossbar with his spot-kick.
Jackson eventually broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with an excellent individual effort, firing into the bottom-right corner to give the hosts a deserved advantage.
Fulham pushed for an equaliser after the break and were rewarded in the 64th minute when Suzuki unfortunately turned the ball into his own net.
Both teams continued searching for a winner, with Antonee Robinson testing the Villa goalkeeper before Pau Torres and Emiliano Buendia missed promising opportunities at the other end.
Despite late pressure from Unai Emery's side, Fulham held firm to secure a valuable point from the encounter.
