According to a report by The Sun published on October 30, 2026, Dorking Wanderers owner and manager Marc White has offered Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick advice on resolving the club's persistent challenges. White believes the club must restore discipline within the dressing room, strengthen accountability and ensure that no individual player is allowed to challenge the manager's authority.
The non-league manager argued that Manchester United should be willing to part ways with players whose attitudes negatively affect the team's environment. He maintained that decisions concerning discipline should not be influenced by a player's reputation, popularity, financial value or importance to the club.
White also expressed concerns about Carrick's approach to managing United captain Bruno Fernandes. He suggested that the situation involving the Portuguese midfielder should have been handled differently, particularly after Fernandes made public comments criticising the manager. According to White's position, allowing such situations to continue could weaken the authority of the coaching staff.
Beyond the immediate dressing-room concerns, the Dorking Wanderers boss called on Manchester United's leadership to establish a comprehensive rebuilding programme. Rather than repeatedly dismissing managers whenever disappointing results occur, he believes the club should commit to a three-to-five-year development strategy.
Such a project, he suggested, should concentrate on recruiting suitable players, maintaining high disciplinary standards and developing a recognisable playing identity. White also highlighted the importance of creating a strong English foundation within the squad as part of the club's long-term ambitions.
The manager has recently attracted attention because of his intense approach to motivating players. He reportedly went viral after an emotional half-time dressing-room confrontation during which he swore 38 times and overturned a table twice. Despite trailing Hemel Hempstead 2-1 at the break, his team eventually fought back to secure a 3-3 draw.
White established Dorking Wanderers in 1999 and has played a significant role in the club's remarkable development. Under his leadership, the team achieved 12 promotions, progressing from the lower divisions of English football to the National League before eventually suffering relegation.
Dorking currently compete in the sixth tier of English football. However, White remains ambitious and determined to take the club into the English Football League, continuing the long-term project he began more than two decades ago.
