According to a report by Football London on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Brazilian winger Estevao is reportedly growing frustrated with his situation at Chelsea under manager Xabi Alonso, having received fewer playing opportunities than he anticipated when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old has managed only 47 minutes of Premier League football this season and was once again an unused substitute during Chelsea’s home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The decision to start Portuguese youngster Geovany Quenda ahead of him reportedly increased his disappointment, raising questions about his current position in Alonso’s plans.
Alonso has urged his players to remain patient, explaining that opportunities will come with time. However, Estevao reportedly expected to play a more significant role after joining Chelsea with considerable expectations surrounding his talent and potential.
The Brazilian previously established himself as one of South America’s most promising young footballers, impressing with his performances. Although Chelsea remain optimistic about his long-term development, his limited involvement has become a growing concern.
Competition for attacking positions has also intensified following Morgan Rogers’ arrival and Pedro Neto’s increasingly important role in the squad. These developments have made it more difficult for Estevao to secure regular minutes, despite his determination to establish himself in English football.
Interestingly, the winger has enjoyed more consistent opportunities with Brazil. During the recent international break, he started both friendly matches, allowing him to gain valuable playing time that has been difficult to obtain at club level.
Despite respecting Chelsea and understanding the competitive nature of selection, Estevao reportedly believes he deserves greater involvement. His priority is to become a regular member of Alonso’s team rather than continue spending most matches on the bench.
The teenager is currently focused on convincing the manager that he merits a bigger role. However, the beginning of the new year could become an important period in determining his future if his situation remains unchanged.
Chelsea are reportedly reluctant to send him out on loan, preferring to oversee his development at Stamford Bridge. Nevertheless, the club could face a difficult decision during the January transfer window if his opportunities remain limited.
Balancing Estevao’s long-term development with his immediate desire for regular football will be crucial. While Chelsea believe he can become an influential player in the coming years, maintaining his progress may require greater first-team involvement.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Manchester City have reportedly dispatched scouts to monitor Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi following his impressive performances in the Champions League, suggesting both clubs are continuing to assess potential attacking reinforcements.
