According to a report by Football London on Thursday October 15, 2026, last weekend's 5-1 Premier League triumph over Bournemouth was Morgan Rogers' second goal in as many games for Chelsea, continuing his stellar start under Xabi Alonso.
Just three minutes into the game, the England international scored his fourth league goal of the season, following an assist from Jordan Henderson.
As a result of Rogers' outstanding play, other Premier League attackers, like Mason Mount (who left Chelsea for Manchester United in 2023), have had a harder time breaking through.
Since joining Chelsea, the forward has made eight appearances, contributing four goals and four assists for a total of eight goals.
Mount, on the other hand, has ten total contributions in 76 games for Manchester United, with eight goals and two assists, putting Rogers shockingly close to his total.
The comparison is becoming more awkward for Rogers, his former Chelsea teammate, as he only needs two more assists to tie Mount's total, even though Mount has played in 68 fewer matches.
Despite his best efforts, Mount has had a rough time at Old Trafford due to a combination of factors, including managerial instability and a string of injuries.
Mount was sold by Chelsea to United for around £55 million, while Rogers set a club record for most expensive transfer at £117 million, coming from Aston Villa, during the summer.
Zlatan Ibrahimović, a Swedish football legend, questioned Chelsea's decision to invest so heavily in Rogers, and his expensive price tag initially drew criticism.
Nevertheless, concerns have been allayed by the midfielder's stellar start, as his goals and assists have shown early signs of his impressive offensive ability.
Rogers, along with teammates João Pedro and Cole Palmer, will be put to the test in their upcoming match against Everton, a defensively organized side managed by David Moyes.
In order to find a way past Everton's disciplined low defensive block, which could limit Chelsea's attacking chances, Rogers will need to show a lot of imagination, patience, and accuracy.
The pressure is on the former Chelsea midfielder Rogers, who could tie or surpass Mount's Manchester United contribution record if he scores or assists again against Everton.
