As part of their ongoing recruitment drive, Upington City are supposedly nearing a deal to sign Justice Chabalala, a former defender for Orlando Pirates.

The seasoned center defender, who played for Orlando Pirates of the South African Premier Soccer League, is reportedly close to signing with the club headquartered in the Northern Cape, according to Soccer Laduma.

Upington City might get a huge boost, especially on defence, from Chabalala's possible signing. Due to his background with one of South Africa's most prestigious football academies, the defender has played at the top level of the sport and brings valuable expertise to the table.

The 34-year-old defender has made a name for himself in the English game, and a transfer to Upington City would provide him a chance to extend his professional career while helping the team achieve its goals.

In their pursuit of a more competitive team, Upington City may find that a player with Chabalala's experience is a valuable asset. The defensive system of the squad might benefit from his knowledge, physical presence, and expertise with professional football.

Given Chabalala's past ties to the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates fans are sure to be interested in the rumoured development as well.

There has been curiosity in the anticipated move, but we still don't know the formal announcement or how long the contract will be.

According to reports, Upington City is in talks to sign the former Pirates defender. The player's future with the club is uncertain.

If the deal goes through, Chabalala will rejoin a South African football team that is trying to improve its standing and compete on a higher level.
