Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema has received praise from football supporters after delivering an impressive defensive performance in the Buccaneers' 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

The young defender was one of the standout performers as Pirates secured their place in the semi-finals of the competition. Although Mpho Padime scored the decisive goal, Seema also played an important role in ensuring that the Buccaneers maintained their advantage throughout the encounter.

His defensive contribution was particularly impressive, as he showed composure, strength and confidence whenever Sekhukhune United attempted to create opportunities.

According to the match statistics, Seema completed 72 of his 74 passes, giving him an impressive passing accuracy of 97 per cent. This showed how comfortable he was with the ball and how effectively he helped Pirates build their attacks from the back.

He also won all four of his recorded duels, completed both of his tackles and won both aerial challenges. These numbers highlighted his ability to deal with opposition attackers both on the ground and in the air.

Another impressive aspect of his performance was his contribution when moving forward. Seema recorded 11 progressive carries and completed six of his seven progressive passes, demonstrating that he was not only focused on defending but also helping the team move the ball into dangerous areas.

The defender also recorded 81 touches, four clearances and four ball recoveries. Perhaps even more impressive was that no opponent managed to dribble past him during the match.

He finished the encounter without committing a foul, further highlighting his disciplined approach to defending.

His overall performance earned him a match rating of 7.6/10, reflecting the important contribution he made to Pirates' victory.

For head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, performances like this will be encouraging as he continues to build a strong defensive unit capable of competing for trophies.

Seema's display also gives Pirates supporters another reason to be optimistic about the quality available within the squad.

With the Buccaneers now through to the Carling Knockout Cup semi-finals, the defender will be hoping to maintain his impressive form and continue earning the trust of the technical team.

Although the attention naturally goes to the goalscorer after a narrow victory, Seema deserves recognition for the important work he produced at the back. His performance against Sekhukhune United was a reminder that strong defending can be just as important as scoring goals.
