"Ouaddou Fired Mandla Ncikazi Because He Was Tired of Being Second-Guessed" Nadim Lukhele Hit Out

Fresh claims have emerged surrounding the reported departure of Mandla Ncikazi from Orlando Pirates' technical team, with football commentator Nadim Lukhele alleging that head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou wanted to part ways with his assistant because he was unhappy with what he considered repeated questioning of his decisions.

According to Lukhele, Ouaddou had reportedly become frustrated with the working relationship between the two coaches. The commentator suggested that disagreements over the head coach's authority and decision-making contributed to tensions within the technical department, eventually leading to Ncikazi's reported departure.

The allegations have attracted attention among Pirates supporters, particularly because Ncikazi has been an established figure in the club's coaching setup over the years. His experience and knowledge of South African football made him an influential member of the technical team.

However, the arrival of a new head coach can bring changes to existing structures and responsibilities. Different coaching philosophies, approaches to training and expectations about decision-making can sometimes create friction between members of a technical team, even when they have considerable professional experience.

Assistant coaches are generally expected to contribute tactical ideas, help organise training sessions and provide recommendations. However, the head coach ultimately carries responsibility for team selection, tactics and match-day decisions. Maintaining a productive relationship therefore requires assistants to offer constructive input while respecting the final authority of the person leading the team.

If Lukhele's account is accurate, the reported disagreement may have involved differences over how much influence Ncikazi could exercise in the technical department and how Ouaddou expected his decisions to be handled.

Nevertheless, Lukhele's comments remain allegations and should not be treated as an officially established explanation for Ncikazi's reported departure. Neither Ouaddou nor Orlando Pirates has been cited as confirming that a disagreement over authority was the reason behind the development.

The situation has raised questions about leadership and working relationships within the Pirates coaching setup. Supporters will now be watching to see whether the reported changes help Ouaddou establish a stable technical team capable of delivering consistent performances and competing for major honours.
