Durban City Take Commanding Half-Time Lead Against AS Port-Louis

Durban City made a strong start to their continental assignment against AS Port-Louis 2000, taking a commanding 2-0 lead into half-time after an impressive first-half performance.

The South African outfit needed just 12 minutes to break the deadlock, with Gaston Sirino finding the back of the net to give his side an early advantage. The goal provided Durban City with the perfect start and put the visitors under immediate pressure.

Sirino's early strike allowed Durban City to approach the remainder of the first half with greater confidence as they looked to build on their advantage and establish control of the contest.

Their positive start was rewarded again in the 25th minute when Haashim Domingo scored to make it 2-0. The second goal strengthened Durban City's position and gave them a valuable cushion before the interval.

With two goals scored inside the opening 25 minutes, Durban City demonstrated their ability to capitalise on their opportunities and put themselves in a favourable position heading into the second half.

Sirino and Domingo Deliver for Durban City

Sirino's contribution proved important as Durban City looked to establish an early foothold in the match. His 12th-minute goal ensured that the hosts did not have to wait long for the breakthrough.

Domingo then added his name to the scoresheet, doubling the advantage and increasing the pressure on AS Port-Louis.

The two goals gave Durban City a solid platform to build on, although the team will understand that there is still work to do before the final whistle.

For AS Port-Louis, conceding twice during the opening 25 minutes leaves them with a difficult task. The visitors will need to improve their performance after the break and find a way to trouble the Durban City defence if they are to get back into the contest.

Durban City Must Finish the Job

Despite their comfortable half-time advantage, Durban City cannot afford to become complacent. Maintaining their defensive discipline and controlling possession will be important as they attempt to protect their lead.

The South African side could also look to exploit spaces as AS Port-Louis push forward in search of a response. Another goal would further strengthen Durban City's position and make the visitors' challenge even more difficult.

However, allowing AS Port-Louis back into the match could change the momentum, making concentration and composure essential during the second half.

The half-time scoreline represents a positive position for Durban City, with Sirino and Domingo providing the goals that separated the teams after the opening 45 minutes.

AS Port-Louis now face a crucial period after the restart, while Durban City will aim to turn their strong first-half display into a convincing final result.

Half-time score: Durban City 2-0 AS Port-Louis 2000

Goals: Gaston Sirino (12'), Haashim Domingo (25').
