According to a report by London Evening Standard on Tuesday November 3, 2026, Manchester United have made several changes to their starting lineup for tonight’s Champions League clash against Roma, with Kobbie Mainoo returning to the team after recovering from injury.
However, Michael Carrick remains without several important players as pressure continues to build on the under-fire manager.
The Red Devils are still dealing with problems at left-back, with Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw both unavailable. Dorgu recently returned to first-team training after spending time on the sidelines, raising hopes that he could feature against Roma. However, Carrick confirmed that the defender would not be ready for the encounter.
The manager explained that Monday was Dorgu’s first training session with the group and that the club would monitor his progress throughout the week. His absence means United must continue with alternative options in defence.
Leny Yoro has been deployed at right-back in recent matches, while Ayden Heaven comes into the starting lineup alongside Harry Maguire at centre-back. Diogo Dalot takes the left-back position as United look to cope without their regular options.
Further forward, Marcus Rashford remains unavailable because of a persistent hip problem. The attacker has not returned to training after missing recent matches against Como, Bournemouth and Chelsea. Benjamin Sesko is also sidelined as he continues recovering from a shin injury.
Mainoo provides a welcome boost after returning to training ahead of the Chelsea match. The midfielder came off the bench at Stamford Bridge but has now been rewarded with a starting role. He partners Carlos Baleba in midfield, while Bruno Fernandes continues in the No.10 position after returning to the team against Chelsea.
Amad Diallo starts on the right, with Matheus Cunha operating from the left and Bryan Mbeumo leading the attack.
