Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly preparing to make a major announcement following their return from Zambia, amid reports that head coach Fernando Da Cruz has been relieved of his duties.

According to Sports With Daily News on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the club’s management has allegedly terminated Da Cruz’s contract following a disappointing run of results. The report suggests that Amakhosi could officially announce the coach’s departure after returning from their trip to Zambia.

However, Kaizer Chiefs have yet to officially confirm the reported decision. Supporters will therefore be waiting for further information from the club regarding the future of the French coach.

The news comes at a difficult time for the Soweto giants, who have been under increasing pressure to deliver better performances and consistent results. Chiefs supporters have high expectations for their team, and recent struggles have raised questions about the direction of the club under Da Cruz.

Amakhosi entered the 2026/27 campaign hoping to build on their progress from the previous season and compete strongly for major honours. However, their inability to maintain consistency has increased frustration among sections of the fan base.

The team’s recent performances have also sparked debate about the coach’s tactical decisions, team selection and overall approach. Some supporters believe changes may be necessary to help the club return to winning ways, while others may feel that the technical team deserves more time to implement its plans.

If the reports of Da Cruz’s departure are confirmed, it would represent another significant development in Kaizer Chiefs’ efforts to rebuild the team and restore its position among South Africa’s leading clubs.

The club’s management would then face the important task of deciding who should take charge of the team and guide it through the remainder of the season. Choosing the right replacement would be crucial, particularly with supporters eager to see improved performances and a serious challenge for silverware.

Nevertheless, the reported development should be treated with caution until Kaizer Chiefs officially clarify the situation.

For now, all eyes are on Naturena as supporters await the club’s next move. The anticipated announcement following the team’s return from Zambia could provide important answers about Da Cruz’s future and the direction Amakhosi intend to take.

If confirmed, his departure would mark a major turning point for Kaizer Chiefs as they look to overcome their current difficulties and give their supporters renewed hope for the remainder of the campaign.
