‘Pirates Are Not Fair to Pedersen’ – Ex-Bucs Star Sifiso Myeni Makes Plea to Ouaddou

Former Orlando Pirates winger Sifiso Myeni has questioned the club’s handling of striker Sebastian Pedersen, urging head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and his technical team to give the forward a fair opportunity to prove his worth.

Pedersen has yet to enjoy an extended run of opportunities since arriving at the Soweto-based club, raising questions about his role in the squad and whether he is being given enough playing time to demonstrate his abilities.

Myeni believes the striker deserves greater consideration from the Pirates coaching staff, particularly as the club continues to compete across different competitions.

The former Buccaneers player has therefore called on Ouaddou and his technical team to reconsider how Pedersen is being utilised, arguing that players need consistent opportunities to show what they can contribute to the team.

Pedersen’s situation has attracted attention because of the limited opportunities he has received since joining Orlando Pirates. For a striker, regular playing time can be particularly important in building confidence, developing an understanding with teammates and finding consistency in front of goal.

Myeni’s comments suggest that he believes the forward has not been given sufficient time to establish himself at the club.

The former Pirates star’s appeal places the spotlight on the decisions made by Ouaddou and his technical team regarding the selection of attacking players.

At a club with ambitions of winning major trophies, competition for places is naturally intense. However, Myeni’s position highlights the importance of ensuring that players who are brought into the squad receive opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.

For Pedersen, the challenge is to make the most of whatever minutes he receives while continuing to work towards a more prominent role in the team.

Orlando Pirates have several considerations when selecting their attacking lineup, including the team’s tactical approach, the form of available players and the demands of upcoming fixtures.

Strikers are often judged by their goal contributions, but their overall performances, movement and ability to link up with teammates can also influence a coach’s decisions.

Pedersen’s limited run of opportunities, however, has prompted Myeni to question whether the forward has received a sufficient chance to prove himself.

The situation presents Ouaddou and his technical team with a selection decision as they seek to get the best out of their available attacking options.

Giving Pedersen more playing time could allow the coaching staff to assess his contribution over a longer period, although his eventual role will depend on the team’s needs and the coach’s assessment of his performances.
