According to a report by The Guardian on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Chelsea defeated Manchester United at Stamford Bridge to strengthen their position in the Premier League standings, while Michael Carrick’s side suffered another setback. Although Chelsea were initially reported to be leading 2-0, the latest match report confirms that the Blues won 3-0.
Morgan Rogers gave Chelsea the lead in the 50th minute after Roméo Lavia recovered possession and helped create the opportunity. Rogers advanced past Harry Maguire before lifting the ball over goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Manchester United’s task became more difficult when Lisandro Martínez was sent off in the 63rd minute after receiving a second yellow card. Chelsea were awarded a penalty, and Cole Palmer converted from the spot one minute later to make it 2-0.
Estevao added Chelsea’s third goal in the 71st minute, finishing a move involving Palmer and Lavia to complete an impressive home performance.
Before the match, Chelsea had 13 points from eight games, while Manchester United had seven points. The victory takes Chelsea to 16 points from nine matches, moving them above Liverpool, who had 15 points before their next fixture. Chelsea therefore move into fourth place, behind Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton, subject to other results.
Manchester United remain on seven points after nine matches. Their goal difference falls from minus three to minus six, leaving them under pressure to improve their form in the coming weeks. The defeat will also raise further questions about Carrick’s team, especially after their recent heavy loss to Bournemouth.
Chelsea will now look to build on this result, while United must respond quickly to prevent their league position from deteriorating further.
